Ingredients

  1. Pie Filling
  2. 2 TbSpvegetable oil
  3. 1small onion (minced) (optional)
  4. 350 gground beef
  5. 250 gshredded chicken or 2 chicken thighs
  6. 2medium sized potatoes (diced)
  7. 4medium sized carrots (diced)
  8. 1/2 cupwater or milk
  9. 2 tspsalt
  10. 1 TbSpcorn flour or all-purpose flour
  11. 1 TbSpgarlic powder
  12. 1 TbSpginger powder
  13. 2 TSpeach of curry and thyme
  14. 2seasoning cubes
  15. Pie Dough
  16. 500 gflour (4 cups)
  17. 2 tspbaking powder tum
  18. 250 gbutter (Very cold)
  19. 100 mlwater or milk
  20. Egg wash
  21. 1egg
  22. Pinchsalt

Cooking Instructions

    Sift flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl, add your margarine in bits, then mix to combine.
    It's important that you do knead.

    Add water to the mixture and combine gently. Do not knead. Divide mixture into 4 sections.

    Wrap mixture in cling film or nylon and keep in refrigerator for about an hour.

    To prepare the filling, place pan on fire and add oil.
    Sauté your minced onion for about 2 minutes. Add your chicken and beef on medium heat. Break down if necessary, stir to combine. Cover until colour of meat changes.

    Add seasoning, garlic, ginger, seasoning cubes, curry and thyme

    Add carrot and potatoes. Add ½ cup water and 2 TbSp corn flour, then allow to steam until potatoes are cooked. Take off heat once done and allow to cool.

    Sprinkle flour on your work table, then flatten each dough and cut into desired shape.
    Add egg to the edges, Add filling to centre of dough, cover and seal.

    Arrange and rub the top of your pies with egg (yolk gives a beautiful colour) Do not whisk too much.

    Bake in an oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes or in an air fryer for 20 minutes.
