Easy Flower Field Bento For Hanami Picnics

I made a colorful bento that's perfect for hanami picnics packed with easy to make components.
I used the vegetables left over from making the kimbap for the pork rolls, and used yellow takuan pickles as decoration, to use up the ingredients without any waste and to make the bento very colorful. For 2 servings. Recipe by Honeymi.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
First layer - Make the yakitori chicken skewers: Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Cut into bite sized pieces and cook in a frying pan with the leek. Skewer alternating with the leek pieces.
- 2
Make the tulip shaped tamagoyaki: Make a standard tamagoyaki (rolled Japanese omelette), roll it up using a sushi mat, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Make a triangular cut in the top of each. Attach a piece of green onion or leek for the leaves and secure with a piece of long pasta to make tulips.
- 3
Make the flower shaped wiener sausage: Cut a wiener sausage into 4 pieces. Make 4 cuts in each piece and pan-fry. Stick a piece of takuan pickle or a corn kernel into the middle part that has opened up.
- 4
Make the pork rolls: Microwave the carrot and spinach briefly and wrap them in the sliced pork. Season with salt and pepper, pan fry until cooked, and cut into bite sized pieces.
- 5
Make the mini tomato sandwiches: Cut the tomato, avocado and cream cheese into equally sized pieces. Season salt and pepper and dried basil, and skewer as shown on a piece of dried pasta.
- 6
2nd layer - This layer is filled with kimbap or gimbap (Korean sushi rolls) and namul (a Korean vegetable side dish). See. I made the kimbap with pan-fried Spam this time.
- 7
3rd layer - Salad: Cut up the cabbage, carrots, and avocado. Mix them up with the canned tuna, mayonnaise and Caesar's salad dressing. Season with pepper.
- 8
Make the salad colorful by decorating it with flower-shaped carrot slices (microwaved briefly) and crispy fried Spam (or bacon) and cherry tomatoes.
- 9
Finished.

Picnic Bento For Hanami or Sports Festivals Picnic Bento For Hanami or Sports Festivals
This was just enough for 2 adults and 1 toddler. Most of the items in the bento are things a toddler can eat, but they are satisfying for adults, too. When food cools down it doesn't taste as rich or salty as when it's hot, so I try to flavor things a bit more than when I'm serving things right a way!Just make things efficiently and quickly! In Step 5, I used some clotted cream that I had left over when we had it with scones. If you don't have any, you can use cream cheese or similar. For 3 servings. Recipe by Mameko cookpad.japan -

Flowers for Bento - Ham and Egg Roses - An Easy Bento Item Flowers for Bento - Ham and Egg Roses - An Easy Bento Item
This is one of the colorful garnishes I made.I vary these ham roses by adding cheese or nori seaweed. Flavor the omelette anyway you prefer. The main photo shows an early version of this recipe where I cooked the ham, but the recipe itself describes an easier method where the ham is not cooked.Choose bright pink, thinly sliced ham to make the prettiest roses.Put any extra bits of egg in the middle of the roses. Don't roll up the roses too tightly for the best looking results. If you add 1/2 teaspoon of katakuriko potato starch flour + 1/2 tablespoon of water to the beaten egg, the thin omelette will come out very nicely. For 3 roses. Recipe by Momora cookpad.japan -
Easy Flower-Shapes! Ham and Cheese Rose Bento Box Fillers Easy Flower-Shapes! Ham and Cheese Rose Bento Box Fillers
This is one of the recipes I devised to add color to bento boxes. When I uploaded my ham and egg rose recipe and mentioned that I also make them with cheese or nori seaweed, a friend who say that asked me to upload a ham and cheese version. I hope this is useful to you.I recommend using bright pink, thinly sliced ham.To prevent cold sliced cheese from breaking apart, rub over plastic wrap for a few seconds.Although the cheese will be just straight, you can simply cut the slice into half if you like.If you adjust the top curved part of the ham so that it folds to the opposite side, it will look very nice. Flower Shaped Tamagoyaki Using Bamboo Skewers - For Bento Decorations Flower Shaped Tamagoyaki Using Bamboo Skewers - For Bento Decorations
I've known about this method of forming tamagoyaki with bamboo skewers for some time, but I thought up this way of lining up the skewers on the plastic wrap first, so I made it into a recipe. It takes a little effort, but the results are really cute. Even if the flowers turn out a bit crooked, that's the charm of homemade. When making the base tamagoyaki, try rolling it so that it is triangular or round or square in shape rather than long and thin. It's easier to space the bamboo skewers evenly I think. If you want to make the petals on the flower very distinct, press the skewers into the center firmly on your work surface before leaving it to cool! The center is the furthest away from the rubber bands after all! Recipe by akemi3 mama cookpad.japan -

My mother used to make these. If you cut off the last cut (on the left of the Step 1 photo) and start rolling the ham from there, the finish will be very tidy. The flower petals look nicer if you make diagonal rather than straight cuts. Unfold each petal slowly. Recipe by BAL cookpad.japan
