I thought I'd write down how to peel chestnuts for chestnut rice or chestnuts in syrup.

A knife that cuts well is easier to work with. Be careful not to cut yourself as you work. For easy to make amount. Recipe by Hakuundou

Ingredients

  1. 300 gramsFresh chestnuts
  2. 1enough to cover the chestnuts Water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the chestnuts quickly and put in a pan. Add enough water to cover, and heat until the water comes to a boil. Turn off the heat and let it cool down.

  2. 2

When the water has cooled enough to put your hands in, take out a chestnut. Cut a small slice off the rough bottom. Leave the other chestnuts in the water.

  3. 3

Insert the blade of your knife in the cut, and peel the outer shell from the bottom to the top.

  4. 4

Peel off the side of the inner skin with the knife, either from the top or the bottom.

  5. 5

Peel the two remaining sides, whichever direction works best. If some bits of skin are left on, remove them neatly.
