Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 320°F (160°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Place the chocolate, butter, and milk in a bowl, and melt over a water bath at about 140°F (60°C) until smooth.

  3. 3

Remove from the water bath and mix in the sugar and eggs.

  4. 4

Sift the cocoa powder, baking powder, and flour into the mixture and stir until smooth.

  5. 5

Optionally, mix in walnuts or other nuts, pour into the pan, and bake at 320°F (160°C) for 20 minutes. (You can also top with nuts.)

  6. 6

Insert a toothpick into the baked brownies; if it comes out clean, they are done. Let cool, then cut into your preferred size.

  7. 7

I always trim the edges and then cut into 4 by 6 pieces, making about 24 squares of approximately 1.5 inches each.

  8. 8

For variations, you can cut out heart shapes. It's easier to cut the day after baking when they are more set.

  9. 9

Decorate with melted chocolate and your choice of toppings for a cute finish.

  10. 10

I tried spreading melted chocolate on the bottom, stacking two layers, and cutting into 1-2 cm wide pieces (with chocolate in the middle).

  11. 11

Cut parchment or tracing paper to the width of the brownies, wrap, and secure with a sticker for easy packaging.

  12. 12

The brownie scraps can be crumbled and mixed with nuts or marshmallows, then set with melted chocolate for a tasty treat.

  13. 13

In step 3, you can add 2 tablespoons (30cc) of your favorite liquor for a more adult flavor.

  14. 14

Besides nuts, finely chopped orange peel adds a nice flavor and is delicious.
