Ingredients

  1. 6 cupsapples (about 4 large apples)Peeled, cored finely chopped
  2. 1 cupcaramel ice cream topping
  3. 1 teaspooncinnamon
  4. 1 cupchopped nuts (your choice, ok to leave out)
  5. 1 boxyellow cake mix (do not prepare)
  6. 1/2 cup (1 stick)unsalted butter melted

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick spray.

    Pour apples into a single layer into prepared dish.

    Sprinkle cinnamon over apples, add nuts and caramel over the apples.

    Distribute cake mix evenly over mixture making sure to cover all apples.

  5. 5

    Drizzle melted butter on top. Add more butter if necessary. (I used 1 1/2 sticks.)

    Bake 45-60 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Store in refrigerator.
