Braised Ham Hock and Vegetables Braised Ham Hock and Vegetables
There are many braised dishes similar to this one. One in particular uses fish and soy sauce but with a different cut of pork. When I have ham hocks, I usually make dry beans. But I wanted something different today. I changed the flavor profiles and used different vegetables to achieve a more subtle tasting dish. This can be eaten by itself or served with rice or egg noodles. Also, some people call the fat and impurities when you boil something “drugs”. That is what I am referring to when I use that term, for those of you who haven’t heard it before. Karl -

Fried Cabbage With Ham Fried Cabbage With Ham
Bacon is traditionally used in this dish, but I rarely have it on hand. You can use ham steaks, leftover baked ham, or even lunch meat from the deli. This goes great with pork chops, corned beef, smoked sausage, etc. Don't be afraid of overfilling the pan, it will shrink down considerably as it cooks. Jake Grogan -

Bean & Ham Hock soup Bean & Ham Hock soup
Bean soup with the slightly smoky flavor of ham hocks (smoked pig knuckle). Of course ham could be substituted, I just enjoy the extra richness ham hocks bring. Takes awhile to cook, but it is more, do a little prep, cook for awhile, so you can do other things while this cooks. This has an awesome flavor, and I usually buy a bean mix, well, I like to mix it up a little. So try it, and enjoy. Fo Fa -

Rolled Cabbage and Cured Ham Rolled Cabbage and Cured Ham
I love cabbage and cured ham. This is the type of recipe a drinker thinks up.Wrap the cabbage as tightly as possible. This way the rolls will look very nice when cut.Two of my nutritionist friends tried these out, and they both liked the sesame oil version better to my surprise. Choose whichever version you like.
