Just a Little Butter: Corn and Edamame Rice Just a Little Butter: Corn and Edamame Rice
Fresh corn is making its appearance at the markets now. It's delicious simply boiled, but it does get stuck between your teeth . I wondered if it would be easier to eat mixed in with rice, while capturing the umami of the corn - so I made a takikomi gohan (rice cooked with other ingredients) using corn. I added edamame too for color.Taste the rice when it's finished cooking, and add some salt if you think it's needed.Just a tiny bit of butter is added, so you can serve this rice with fish, meat or whatever you like. Easy Microwaved Corn in the Husk! Easy Microwaved Corn in the Husk!
This method recommended to me by a co-worker. When I tried it out, I was so amazed by how the flavors transferred from the husk.If the outside layer of the husk is really dirty, peel off 1 or 2 layers. In addition to the aroma of the corn, the husk releases moisture which steam cooks the corn. When you remove it from the microwave and remove the wrap, be careful not to burn yourself. How to Boil Corn on the Cob How to Boil Corn on the Cob
I've been experimenting to find the ultimate way to boil corn and found that this method was most delicious. The flavor barely changes at all whether boiled with or without the husks. The benefits of boiling with the husks is that they soften which will help decrease the amount of garbage, and the threads are easier to remove.◎The texture of the corn will change depending on when you add it to the water. If you add it while the water is already boiling, it will be crunchy. If you add the corn before the water boils, it will be plump and juicy.◎The white kernel corn has a thin skin so please don't boil them for too long.◎If you soak the corn in the saltwater, it won't crinkle up. If you are not going to eat right away, cover with plastic wrap and store. Recipe by Dosankomisuzu cookpad.japan -
