#traditional
Bhapa pitha is a traditional recipe of West Bengal & Calcutta mostly prepared to give winter a warm & lavish welcome! Although Bengalis love making Pitha throughout the whole year but Bhapa Pitha is a true relish during a nice, cool, windy weather. The word 'Bhapa' implies that the Pithas (or pancakes) are steamed & with the combination of coconut & jaggery this Pitha is an absolute treat for your taste buds! Do give it a try!

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

Take a bowl, add rice flour, jaggery, grated coconut, milk, salt & mix well so that there are no lumps of jaggery.

  2. 2

Sieve this mixture using a net mash or strainer, after sieving, the mixture will have a grainy texture.

  3. 3

Add a bit of rice flour in this mixture, then place this mixture in the cup, press the mixture so that it sits tightly in the cup & the mixture doesn't come out during up side down position. Fill all the cups like this with the rice coconut mixture.

  4. 4

Add water in a bowl & heat it in the gas stove. When the water is heated add a flat net lid in it, then take the mixture filled cups & place them up side down above the lids.

  5. 5

Steam the Pithas for 10 minutes, then take them off from the cups & your Gur Narkel er Mishti Bhapa is ready to serve!
