Indonesian-inspired spicy green beans

I was making lunch for an Indonesian friend and planned to make a classic steamed green beans dish - olive oil, salt, flaked almonds, some herbs. She was helping me and made her own twist on this - whole almonds and a bit of chilli paste. She also added dried chilli shrimp in the mix - an Indonesian ingredient I would have never thought of using. It was delicious :)

Ingredients

  • 200 gFrench green beans
  • Olive oil
  • Chilli paste
  • Flaked or whole almonds
  • Salt yo taste
  • Dried shrimp (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut off ends of green beans and boil for 3-4 min making sure not to over cook

  2. 2

    Put in a bowl and add almonds, olive oil, chilli paste and salt to taste

  3. 3

    Sprinkle dried shrimp on top and serve
