Vermicelli rava payasam/semiya rava payasam

Saraswathi pooja is a popular Hindu festival, which is celebrated on the 9 th day of the Navarathri. On this auspicious day people offer payasam, medhuvadai and sundal as neivedyam to the Goddess saraswathi.
Here is the recipe for semiya rava payasam. Payasam is a traditional Indian dessert. Most people use javvarasi/ sago to make payasam for pooja. Instead of javvarasi I used rava.

Steps
- 1
Boil milk in a pan.
Heat a pan with ghee, roast the raisins and cashew, and keep it aside. - 2
In a same pan roast semiya and rava. Once semiya and rava becomes golden then add milk and bring to boil.
- 3
When semiya gets roasted and rava and cook, add sugar and cardamom powder. Let it be simmer for some time.
- 4
Finally add roasted nuts. Now yummy and creamy payasam is ready to serve.
- 5
Instead of cardamom we can use Rose essence for flavour. If payasam gets thicken, add boiled milk and serve hot.
I hope this post would help beginners to make simple neivedyam for the pooja.
