Some of the popular food items of M.P. are kusli, lavang lata, jalebi, dal baflas , palak puri , kebabs ,biryani etc. and how can we forgot famous Indori poha & sabudana khichdi.
Palak Puri - a popular deep fried puffed spinach bread eaten mainly for break fast, it is served with aloo sabji ( potato vegetable) & pickle. This palak puri is mainly & commonly found in the Khandva region of M.P.
Palak Puri is loaded with goodness of spinach & this makes it perfect combination of taste & health. Key ingredients of this puri are wheat flour & spinach.

Ingredients

25 minutes
4 persons
  • 2 cupwheat flour
  • 1/4 cupsemolina (optional)
  • 300 gmspinach
  • 1 tspcumin powder
  • 1 tbspoil
  • Pinchasafoetida
  • to tasteSalt
  • as neededOil for frying

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

    Clean & wash spinach, blanch it for few minutes. Drain & blend it in a puree.

  2. 2

    Mix wheat flour, semolina,cumin powder, salt, asafoetida & oil. Knead dough with spinach puree.

    Roll small puris & deep fry it.

    Serve hot with sabji, pickle, curd or tea.
