Meatballs in Tomato Sauce (Kabab Hindi)

First, to season the meat, mix all the meat seasoning ingredients thoroughly. Shape the mixture into balls of your desired size. Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet or nonstick baking dish, add the meatballs, and gently turn them until browned on all sides. Cover and cook until the meatballs are fully cooked through, then set them aside.

In the same skillet, add the chopped or grated onion and sauté in the same oil used for the meatballs. Add the crushed garlic and chopped tomatoes, stir well, then add the spices, basil, oregano, bouillon cube, 1 cup water, and tomato paste or fresh tomato juice. Mix thoroughly.

If you want to add the potato, peel and dice it, then fry until golden. Add the fried potato cubes to the sauce. Once the sauce thickens, add the meatballs back in and let them simmer together for a while. Optionally, broil the dish in the oven for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Serve with rice and vermicelli, plain white rice, or alongside cooked pasta.
