No need to pre-cook or blanch Broccoli before stir-frying it. This method is so easy and works with any Oil. Today I used Sesame Oil because I wanted to mix the cooked Broccoli with Korean fried & seasoned seaweed called ‘Gim-gui’. Of course you can use Sushi Nori instead.

Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 head(*about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
  • 2-3 teaspoonsSesame Oil
  • 2 pinchesSalt
  • 2-3 tablespoonsWater
  • 1 packetKorean ‘Gim-gui’ OR 1 sheet Toasted Sushi Nori *torn into small pieces
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds OR Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add Broccoli, Salt and Water, cover with a lid and steam-cook for a few minutes.

    When the Water is evaporated, remove the lid and stir-fry until slightly browned.

  3. 3

    Add ‘Gim-gui’ OR Toasted Nori, toss to combine, sprinkle with Toasted Sesame Seeds OR Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix), and serve immediately.

    *Note: Alternatively, allow the Broccoli to cool, then mix with ‘Gim-gui’ OR Toasted Nori just before you serve.
