Ingredients

  • 1/4 cupmoong dal
  • 1/4 cupchana dal
  • 1/4 cuptoor dal
  • 1/4 cupmasoor dal
  • 2 tbspudad dal
  • For curry
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 4-5 clovesgarlic
  • 1 tspginger paste
  • Pinchhing
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 6-7curry leaves
  • 2hole red chilly
  • 1chopped onion
  • 1chopped tomato
  • 2 tbspcoriander leaves
  • 1 tbspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspgaram masala
  • to tasteSalt according
  • 1 tsp coriander powder

Steps

  1. 1

    Combine all the 5 dals soak in water for 30-45 mins.pressure cook the dals adding 3 cups of water for 4-5 whistles.

    A pan heat ghee and add the mustard, cumin and fry them. let them splutter.add the onions and fry them.now add ginger - garlic paste.add red chillies, curry leaves and stir.now it is time to add the tomatoes. cook till they soften and you see oil releasing from the sides.add all the spice powders - turmeric powder, garam masala,red chili powder, coriander powder. and fry for a minute.

    Now add the cooked and mashed dal. stir well.add water and salt to taste.continue to stir and cook the the dal for 4-5 minutes in a low to medium flame.add chopped coriander leaves.your panchamel dal is ready. serve with choice of rotis or rice recipes.
