Ingredients

  • 3salad tomatoes
  • 1 tbspraisins
  • 1bay leave
  • 3cardamoms
  • 1cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsppanch phoron
  • 1medium size onion
  • 1 tspfresh grated ginger
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/4 tspchilli powder
  • 1/4garam masala
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tbspbrown sugar
  • 1 tspwhite vinegar
  • to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat a frying pan with oil. Add the panch phoron and whole spices. Let them fry for few seconds. Now add onion and cook until gets soft. Then add tomatoes and all other ingredients. Cook them for 30 mins. Add little amount of water. Keep stirring until it gets smooth and gravy. Serve with rice or any snacks. You can keep in a jar and reserve for a month in the refrigerator.

Hi there,I can not get hold of any Panch Phoron. Is there a combination of spices that would work as a substitute or would it be best to leave it out entirely?Thanks!
