Wash the basil and let it dry well. Place it in a blender cup, add the remaining ingredients, and blend until smooth. For a more traditional texture, use a mortar and pestle instead of a blender.

Cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and toss with the pesto. If desired, top with extra grated Grana Padano.

Tip: Make the pesto while the pasta is cooking, as pesto can oxidize and lose its bright green color if it sits too long.
