Mexican tortillas
Once you make them...you won’t want to buy them anymore...!!
Steps
- 1
Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl
- 2
Add the oil and mix quickly to get a sandy texture
- 3
Incorporate the water little by little, while mixing with a cooking spatula. Once the water is integrated, knead vigorously until the dough is smooth (at least 5-7 min)
- 4
Once you have knead enough, test its consistency by dipping in your finger. The dough has to come back a bit
- 5
Cut the dough in pieces (approximately 50 grams) and make balls with them. The the size of the balls should be more or less the size of the hole between your hands. Cover them with a cloth and let stand 30 minutes
- 6
After 30 min, start rolling out the dough with a rolling pin, and try to make the tortillas as circled as possible
- 7
Cook the tortillas in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once you see blisters start to form, turn the tortilla
- 8
Cover the tortillas very well in a kitchen towel as they come out of the pan to keep them.
