Chocolate Napolitanas
An idea for a quick, easy, and delicious snack or breakfast. Perfect for those days when you crave something sweet without much fuss, but still want to feel satisfied. I'll give you some tips to make them even more appealing and attractive.
Steps
- 1
Note that the syrup is completely optional, but if you want to give it that attractive shine, you'll see it's very simple. If you want to include it in the recipe, start by preparing it. Just put the water and sugar in a saucepan and stir. Bring to a boil. Once it starts boiling, let it simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat and set aside to cool.
- 2
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 3
Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 strips.
- 4
I like the filling to be generous so that when you take a bite, chocolate oozes out everywhere... what can I say... that's just how I am... So I put two pieces of chocolate on each strip of puff pastry and roll it up as shown in the photos.
- 5
Seal the ends with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
- 6
I like to add some chopped almonds, but it's completely optional. I also sprinkle with sugar to make the top layer crunchier.
- 7
Place the napolitanas in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them! The time is just a guideline. When they are golden, they can be taken out.
- 8
At this point, if you want to add the shiny layer, brush the entire surface with the syrup and let them cool on a rack. Instead of the shine, you can sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
- 9
They are delicious when cold! But still warm, they are absolutely amazing... with the melted chocolate... I'll just leave it at that!
