Ingredients

60 minutes
2 people
  • 1 cupSama rice
  • 1/2 ltrmilk
  • 1/2 cupsugar
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 1 tspcardamom powder
  • 8-10Saffron strands or Pinch of orange food color
  • as neededChopped almonds, cashews and pistachios for garnishing

Steps

60 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak Sama rice/barnyard millet for 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Boil milk in thick bottom vessel for 5 to 10 minutes.
    Add barnyard millet to it.
    Cook it on low flame till turns soft and milk is absorbed.
    While cooking, stir it every 2 minutes so it will not stick to vessel.

  3. 3

    Add sugar to it. Mix it well.
    Immediately add ghee and mix it.

  4. 4

    Add cardamom powder and saffron strands soaked in little milk or pinch of orange food color. Add some chopped dry fruits.
    Khirran is ready. Serve it hot by garnishing chopped dry fruits.
