So thought to make kalonji ( Nigella seeds) channay as kalonji has many benefits including aid in blood sugar regulations, protect liver, lower cholesterol, packed with antioxidants and many more. My mom has a firm believe while cooking recite Bismillah and add pinch kalonji in all meals to get the benefits of this Allah’s blessed ingredients.

Ingredients

30 minutes
4-6 people
  • 2 cupsboiled small channay
  • 2 tbspmasoor daal
  • 2potatoes boiled
  • 1 tspkalonji
  • 1onion
  • 1chicken cube
  • 1 tspbhuna zeera
  • 1 tspbhuna dhania
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tspRed chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspgaram masalah
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 4 tbspkhalis ghee
  • 1/2 tspmeetha soda

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak channay and masoor daal together overnight. Next morning discard water and boil them.

    Take 2 tbsp khalis ghee add chopped onion and brown it. Now add kalongi.

  3. 3

    Add salt, cube, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masalah with 2 cups water.

  4. 4

    Add potatoes and channay. Cook for 10-15 minutes.

  5. 5

    At this step add meetha soda. This will give your channay amazing consistency along with you already added 2 tbsp masoor daal.

  6. 6

    Give tarka of khalis ghee with bhuna zeera, bhuna dhania, green chillies chopped.

    Garnish with onion rings. Serve with naan. Enjoy

I am a homechef. Cooking is my passion. Love to creat new recipes. Mother of three . MashaAllahI belong to a punjabi family and married in the same community. Food taste is similar and almost same traditional dishes. My Ancestors belong to Amratsar and Inlaws are from Sargodha. I am born & brought up in Karachi. I have learnt alot from my Mom . She’s also a super chef of our family & my inspiration too. After shadi have learnt few dishes from my saas too .Good food makes my family really happy & in return they appreciated me alot. It’s really good to see my husband and kids happy because they love the food that I cook . I genuinely enjoy the whole process of cooking & love to hosting and design menus too. For me cooking is highly creative hobby to take up . You can not only create your own dishes but blend your favourite cuisine , it’s totally your choice because it’s your kitchen and your family. I am blessed to be surrounded by beautiful family who always appreciated me and love my cooking skills ❤️❤️❤️
