Chinese Nanjing Rice Shaomai

My Chinese daughter(she lived at my home for a year as an exchange student and she was from Nanjing in China) got surprised to eat my pork Shaomai. It was this rice Shaomai that she called Shaomai.

Steps

Soak glutinous rice in water. Cut pork into small pieces. I used leftover roasted pork. You can use chicken also.

Fry pork in rice cooker pan. Add vegetable oil and season with Chinese chicken paste (powder). You can season with salt and soy sauce to taste.

Pour water (200ml) and add fried onion. Cook in rice cooker.

Mix rice and wrap with wanton sheets. Steam for 5 minutes.
