Simple Chikuwa Nanban

I made Miyazaki nanban with chikuwa. It's nice with sake, great as bento fillers, or served with rice or noodles.
The latticed shallow cuts help the flavors seep into the chikuwa.
Since the sesame seeds slide off when baked, sprinkle on more before serving. Recipe by Hiyokosan

Cut the chikuwa in half lengthwise, then quarter horizontally (to make a total of 8 pieces).

Score the inside of the chikuwa as shown.

Put the ★ ingredients in a plastic bag. Massage the bag from the outside and marinate the chikuwa for 10 minutes.

In a frying pan or toaster oven, cook until golden brown. Serve with tartar sauce.
