Mochi Pizza

I made this dish using kagami-mochi (mochi rice cake decorations) from our New Year's decorations.
Pay attention and adjust the heat while cooking. Adding some water prevents the mochi from getting burnt and helps it cook faster.
You can freeze the sauce, so make a large amount and use it for later.
It can be used not only for pizzas but also in pasta dishes. Recipe by Watamichi

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Pass the canned tomatoes through a sieve to drain the excess liquid. Transfer to a frying pan, and mix with a hand blender. (Alternatively, blend in a blender and transfer to the frying pan.)
- 2
Add the remaining ingredients for the tomato sauce to Step 1, and evaporate the liquid. Please adjust the amount of sugar depending on the sourness of the tomatoes. You can keep this sauce in a jar.
- 3
Cut the mochi rice cake into pieces. Cut the onion, green pepper, and ham into thin strips.
- 4
Heat oil in the pan. Add the mochi, and coat with the oil. Add a small amount of water, cover with a lid, and cook the mochi over medium-low heat until softened. Be careful not to burn it.
- 5
When the mochi has melted, spread the sauce on top. Top with the vegetables and cheese. Cover with the lid. When the onion is cooked through, it's done.

Okara Mochi Pizza Bites Okara Mochi Pizza Bites
My children love shaping the okara into round dango (dumplings) and squeezing ketchup on the mochi. These were plots to make my children like okara. The water content varies with the okara you are using. If you have a hard time shaping at Step 1, add some water. Or if it seems too soft to shape into balls, add some katakuriko. I used dried parsley for garnish this time, but fresh parsley or any other chopped green vegetables are fine too.You can use processed cheese or a melting kind of cheese. Use whichever you prefer. Potato Mochi Potato Mochi
I had these potato mochi at a friend's house, and tried to replicate them and came up with this recipe. I based this on the popular method using katakuriko.Although it is time consuming, the texture of the potato is best when strained through a sieve. Add milk until it reaches a cream-like consistency, then add just enough katakuriko to make them firm enough to shape into balls. If you use tapioca powder instead, they will become even springy and chewier. Recipe by MsX cookpad.japan -
