Gyu tan - beef, ox, tongue steak

Japanese popular menu, less fat and tasty part of the meat, and cheaper in UK.
10 pound for a full beef tongue at local butcher, so reasonable price, and super
tasty and soft texture.
When you manage to buy a whole, it's really good to cut thick and enjoy the really tender texture, something special.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
To make a whole tongue to be cooked easily, there're multiple process to take.
The easiest way, maybe not tastful way, is to boil in pressure cook with vegetables, such as green part of onion, carrot, celery. Fully salted the tongue and put water just over the meat and cook for 20 min. Easily peel the skin afterward.
- 2
Slice the tongue to your favourite size. The root side part is softer, so you can slice thicker.
You could eat already, but I wanted to make a bit like yakiniku style, so grill on the surface mildly.
If you didn't boil, it's texture and taste are better, but the part of taking out of skin is a bit of work to do.
Two different sauces to enjoy.
One salt, pepper and lemon. Another one is with soysauce and ginger.

Beef Steak Beef Steak
I keep uploading really simple recipes, which is a little embarrassing, so I have decided not to call this a recipe.Although this isn't really a recipe, teaching people how to cook is also very important.Of course the colour of the meat is important, but cooking the meat through to the middle is what will draw out the best flavour.Japanese beef doesn't really get tough, so it's probably better to overcook than to undercook. Satisfying Beef Steak Sandwich Satisfying Beef Steak Sandwich
My son said he wanted to eat bread with steak in it. I reduced the meaty odor with red wine, and then used olive oil to prevent the meat from drying up. I also added honey as I've heard that it makes meat tender. This mixture, also with soy sauce and fragrant grainy mustard, makes an amazing marinating sauce.I usually do the prep the night before. I used imported meat, but I recommend you use Japanese beef because it's more tender. Recipe by Ruruoka cookpad.japan -
