Sweet Potato & Purple Yam Chakin Simple Sweet Potato

I like the coloring of purple yam, so I came up with this recipe based on that.
It's great served to guests, as a snack, to help fill up a bento lunch box, or as a seasonal dish.
I sometimes make these with a candied chestnut in the middle.
You can also soften the sweet potatoes in the microwave.
It's also good to add vanilla extract or cinnamon!
You also don't have to use egg yolk or heat on the stove if you don't want to.
Please taste and adjust the sweetness accordingly.
You can use 5 tablespoons of white sugar instead of maple syrup with 3 tablespoons sugar if you'd prefer. Recipe by Momora

The steps are the same for each color. Wash the sweet potato and steam it in a steamer to soften. Peel it while it's still hot and use a hand mixer or a masher to mash it.

Add to a pot, and then add the melted butter, heavy cream, maple syrup, egg yolk, sugar, and rum. Heat the mixture on medium heat, stirring quickly.

While heating, combine the mixture well, and once everything has cooked through remove from it the heat and leave it to cool in a try. Since we're going to be shaping it we want it to stiffen up.

Use a wrap to combine equal amounts of each color of potato mixture and squeeze them into a chakin ball-shape to complete.
