These deep fried russets were inspired after I tried a recipe for smoking a turkey soaked in brine containing honey resulting in a tasty turkey.

These deep fried russets were inspired after I tried a recipe for smoking a turkey soaked in brine containing honey resulting in a tasty turkey.
Steps

Blend honey in 2-3 cups of hot water

Cover & soak the peeled & cut fries 20 minutes in the blended water

Drain & pat excess water off. (I use a salad spinner).

Heat canola or other deep fry oil to 350°. 2 kernels of popcorn will pop at this temperature. (This is much more convenient than handling a thermometer).

Deep fry to golden brown. (About 5 minutes).

Season with salt to taste.

Lightly dusk with taco seasoning for a pleasant surprise. (Optional)
