Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 Lbground beef
  2. 1/2 lbground turkey
  3. 1 tspgarlic powder
  4. 1 tsponion powder
  5. 1 tsppepper
  6. 2 tspsalt
  7. 1/4 cupoats
  8. 3garlic cloves minced
  9. 3 Tbsponion diced
  10. 1 Tbspdried parsley
  11. 1egg
  12. 1 Tbspketchup
  13. 1 Tbspmustard
  14. 1 Tbsphoney
  15. 1 tspWorcestershire sauce
  16. 2medium onions
  17. Cubed cheddar cheese
  18. 16 stripsbacon
  19. BBQ sauce

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, turkey, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, oats, garlic, diced onion, parsley, egg, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and honey until everything is evenly combined.

  3. 3

Cut each onion vertically removing the stem and the root. Peel off the layers of the onion as these will form the outer “shell” of your meatloaf bombs. We were able to get three sets of shells from each onion.

  4. 4

Pinch off a golf-ball sized amount of meat (or slightly larger depending on the size of your onion shell) and press a cube of cheddar cheese into the middle of each portion. Then shape the meatball with your hands.

  5. 5

Wrap each meatball in two onion shells, then with 2-3 strips of bacon. Move each one to the baking sheet.

  6. 6

Brush each meatball with BBQ sauce.

  7. 7

Bake for 20 minutes and then coat again with BBQ sauce.

  8. 8

Bake for another 20-25 minutes until deep brown with a nice crust on the outside.
