This is one of the traditional Japanese dishes made with potatoes. It is a specialty of Hokkaido.
They do not stretch like rice cakes, but can be eaten as a very nice snack.

Steps

Peel and cut the potatoes into suitable sizes and boil them in enough water to soak.

Boil for 15 minutes to soften Drain and heat slightly in a pan to release excess water.

While hot, mash into a paste and wait until it is hot enough to remove the heat.

Once the heat is removed, add the potato starch and mix well.

Wrap the cheese and form it into the desired size.

Brown these in a buttered frying pan over medium heat, covered.

Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.
Finish off with some cheese and voila!
