Ingredients

30 minutes
3-4 persons
  • 1/2 kgchicken (curry cut)
  • For chicken marination
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 3/4 tsp red chilli powder (adjust as needed)
  • 1 tbspcoriander powder
  • 1 tspcumin powder
  • 1/2 tspchicken masala
  • 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  • as requiredLemon juice
  • 1 tbspMustard oil
  • (Marinate at least for 1 hour in fridge)
  • For masala paste
  • 1Semi Fried onion
  • 1small tomato
  • 1-2fresh green chillies
  • 1cardamom
  • 2cloves
  • as requiredSmall cinnamon stick
  • as requiredFew black peppercorns
  • (Grind it all into a fine paste)
  • For curry
  • 40 mloil
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1onion (chopped finely)
  • Marinated chicken
  • 1/2 cupBlanched green peas
  • (no need to blanch if using frozen peas)
  • Prepared masala paste
  • 100 mlFresh cream
  • as requiredKasuri methi
  • as per taste Adjust salt
  • 1/2 tspchicken masala
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Start by washing and marinating the chicken with the above-mentioned ingredients. Next prepare masala paste and keep aside.

  2. 2

    Next place a kadhai with oil and heat it. Splutter cumin seeds. Put chopped onion. Fry till brownish. Next add the prepared masala paste. Add as needed salt. Mix and cook till masala leaves oil. Add little water as needed.

  3. 3

    Next add the marinated chicken. Srir fry in medium to high heat for some time. Next cover and cook it till chicken is softened.

  4. 4

    As chicken is cooked, add the blanched peas. Give a nice gentle mix. Let it cook without cover for some time. Next add chicken masala, little water and mix gently. Let all flavours combine well with each other.

  5. 5

    Next add fresh cream. I have used Ghar ki malai. Churned it with little milk.
    Add the cream and give a mix. Let cream get well combined with all ingredients.

  6. 6

    Next add garam masala. Mix it too. Add as much water needed as per your preference for the gravy. It's better not to make it runny.

  7. 7

    Finally put kasuri methi and mix.
    Let the curry settle down for some time. Then give a nice gentle mix and serve hot
