Combine the moth dal a bowl.

Mash together and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.Fry the mustard seeds,Add cumin seeds and fry for seconds.

Add onions and saute well,add turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste and stir well,Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder,and mix.

Asafoetida powder, salt, garam masala powder and 1 cup of water.boil and add the mashed moth dal and green gram mixture. Simmer for a minute.

Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves.Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice for some tang. Then top it with farsan or chiwda as per your preference.

You can also use side of buttermilk or curd it's balances the spiciness of the misal.
