Rainy days-cold, cough; and fever what not Black garlic rasam will keep all these health problems at bay. White garlic becomes black garlic through Maillard reaction, the color, taste and smell of garlic change. Not spicy, sweet, even those who don't like the smell of garlic will love it. Many benefits-anti-inflammatory, blood sugar control, anti-cancer, good for heart. All the ingredients in this recipe have these benefits. Tomatoes are from my garden. Loaded with healthy nutrition’s, aroma, beautiful color, flavor and etc. Drink it and feel good.

  1. 1/2 cupSplit toor dal
  2. 1 tbspCoconut oil
  3. 1 tspMustard
  4. 1 tspFennel
  5. 3Chili dry red
  6. 1 tbspCrushed ginger
  7. pinchsolid hing
  8. 1/4 cupcurry leaves
  9. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  10. 1 cupTomato slices
  11. 1Whole black garlic
  12. 2 tbspRasa powder
  13. 1/4 cupCoriander leaves, finely chopped

    I prepared rasa powder by roasting dals, coriander seeds, chillies, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds and pepper. Please refer to my recipe in cookpadcom tamil community
    Soak hing in ¼ cup boiling water to dissolve in water
    Cook toor dal in a bowl with 4 cups of water in a pressure cooker. While dal is cooking, attend to the rest of chores,
    Add mustard seeds to hot oil in a heavy saucepan over medium flame. After mustard seeds splutter add cumin seeds, chilies, turmeric powder, ginger curry leaves

    Stir in tomatoes, continue cooking until tomato gets soft and the raw smell fgoes away, about 4 minutes. Remove outer skin of garlic; Crush the cloves. Add crushed garlic cloves. Add 6 cups of water and bring to a boil.
    Add the cooked dal with water. Bring it to boil on high flame for 10 minutes;

    Mix 2 tablespoons of rasa powder in 1 cup of hot water, add it to the rasam and mix well. Continue cooking for 4-5 minutes, add salt, hing and mix. Turn off the stove. Add cilantro. The whole house will be filled aroma transfer it to a serving bowl. You may fill up a glass with rasam and drink it. Or mix with rice and eat.
