Methi ke Aloo Bhajiye

This snack given a simple twist by me by adding Choti Methi or Fenugreek Leaves to the batter along with the regular ingredients. Here i have used small Fenugreek bunches. Even the big one's can be put to use accordingly whichever is convenient to you all home chefs. Hyderabadi famous Iftaar item or snack that's equally popular amongst all. These Aloo ke Bhajiye are the perfect melt-in-mouth goodies that can be served for evening snack at Tea-time or Shaam Ki Chai.
Potato slices coated in luscious Gram Flour batter and then deep-fried to perfection for that crisp and crunchy texture on the outside and soft Potato slices on the inside.
Serve them alongside any Dip or Chutney of your choice.

The Potatoes can be thinly sliced or given an oblong shape depending on one's own choice. The shape of the Potatoes also matters here. If they are round, we get nice round shapes and if they are long and not perfectly round, then an oblong shape is the right choice. Whatever may be the shape, the taste and texture is what matters the most.
Come Ramadan or even Monsoon, the big and the small roadside Eateries and Cafes are loaded with these Bhajiye. These are sold like hotcakes. That's the craze of these Bhajiye or Fritters or Pakoras.

Enjoy Cooking with Zeen!

Steps

25-30 minutes
  1. 1

Make a smooth semi-thick yet fluffy and a smooth batter with all the ingredients mentioned. Mix well and keep aside for a good 20 to 30 minutes or so. This is a must. I didn't use Baking soda here. The standing time given is enough for fluffy and soft Bhajiye.

  2. 2

Deep fry in hot oil on medium-high heat dipping each slice in the batter. See to it that they are coated well with the batter. Cook until golden brown and done. Serve them piping hot with any Chutney of your choice. I have served them with Mint Yogurt Chutney. Yum!

  3. 3

Enjoy these lip-smacking Fritters with a hot cup of Chai or Coffee when it's pouring outside. The weather plus these Bhajiye will definitely make your day. Relish!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
