Crockpot pineapple upside down cake

Found this recipe in a magazine. I had no idea you can make this in a slow cooker/ crockpot…
It didn’t take my slow cooker the full time….
I did the one hr on high and then went to low as it said to do , and set a timer for the rest , I started to smell it after 30-45 on low and decided to check on it and found it was done.
My slow cooker cooks fast and I knew that … it did burn some on the sides … i also used crisco shortening to well grease the pot and this came out so easy, it said to let sit 10 min before turning out I waited 15 mins did the knife thing and flipping onto a big cutting board. This didn’t even heat my kitchen. Will be doing this again so easy , one of my teens even help with this.

Ingredients

  1. 1 stick (8 Tbsp.)butter, melted
  2. 1 cupbrown sugar
  3. 1medium-sized can pineapple slices, drained, juice reserved
  4. 6-8maraschino cherries
  5. 1 boxyellow cake mix

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Combine butter and brown sugar in well-greased slow
    cooker. Spread over cooker bottom.

    Lay pineapple slices over top. Place a cherry in the center of each slice.

  3. 3

    In a good-sized mixing bowl, prepare cake according
    to package directions, using pineapple juice for part of liquid.

    Spoon cake batter into cooker over top fruit.

    Cover cooker with 2 tea towels and then with its own
    lid. Cook on High 1 hour, and then on Low 3-4 hours.

    Insert toothpick in center of cake. If it comes out
    clean, cake is finished. If it doesn't, continue to cook in 15-
    minute increments, checking after each one, until pick
    comes out clean,

  7. 7

    Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes. Then run knife
    around edge and invert cake onto large platter.
