Ingredients

2h 30min
60 servings
  1. 3 1/3 cupsflour (about 400 grams)
  2. 1 cupbutter, softened (about 250 grams)
  3. 1egg
  4. 2/3 cupsugar (about 120 grams)
  5. Flavoring (vanilla in my case)

Cooking Instructions

2h 30min
  1. 1

The butter should be softened, meaning at room temperature and soft to the touch. Mix the butter well with the sugar.

  2. 2

Add the egg and a teaspoon of vanilla extract (or the flavoring of your choice) and mix well again.

  3. 3

Gradually add the flour, kneading until well integrated. The dough should be easy to knead by hand at the end.

  4. 4

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least half an hour.

  5. 5

After the time has passed, take the dough out of the fridge. I usually place it on parchment paper and roll it out with a rolling pin. You can make them as thick as you like; I prefer them on the thicker side.

  6. 6

Cut into desired shapes using a knife or cookie cutters. I have the typical heart and flower shapes, and for the kids, dinosaur and unicorn shapes.

  7. 7

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the oven for 12 minutes at 350°F (180°C) with heat from above and below. The twelve minutes are approximate. Remove them when the edges start to color.

  8. 8

Let cool and they're ready to eat!

  9. 9

Optionally, and especially for the kids, we sometimes decorate them with fondant, letting them do the decorating (they have a great time with the 'edible playdough'), but I must say it's too much sugar and we prefer them plain.
