Cooking Instructions
- 1
Open the tofu packet. To squeeze excess water out of the tofu, wrap it in a towel and place a very heavy object on top for 10-20 minutes. After that, unwrap the tofu and cut it into bite size cubes
- 2
Add the marinade to the tofu and let it sit for 10 minutes or more (I say 10 minutes because I want to hurry up lol). Then coat the tofu with a thin layer of cornstarch.
- 3
Add the sauce ingredients together.
- 4
I’m cooking this in a microwave so I can’t really tell how long to cook anything or how much heat to put on. Just do as you feel.
- 5
Anyways, add vegetable oil or any non flavorful oil and sugar to a pan (I’m using a plate because I’m making this in the microwave). Heat it until the sugar dissolves. then add the tofu until it’s crispy. the add the sauce and let it simmer until it reduced. Then you’re done!

Easy Douhua (Tofu Pudding) with Soy Milk and Powdered Agar-agar (Anmitsu-style) Easy Douhua (Tofu Pudding) with Soy Milk and Powdered Agar-agar (Anmitsu-style)
I love the texture of douhua, but my daughter doesn't like the ginger in it.I wanted to figure out how to make douhua easily without ginger. If the mixture sets soft, it might yield some water after served. If it is too hard, the texture isn't great. This ratio of soy milk and powdered agar-agar is the best to me.If you use soy milk at room temperature, you can control the temperature of the mixture easily. The reason why only half of the soy milk is heated because it is easier to dissolve agar-agar-powder this way. If you don't want to bother, heat all the soy milk from the start. Recipe by Nekozame cookpad.japan -
