Cut the lean chicken into pieces and chop the vegetables. Bring water to a boil, then add the chicken, potato, carrot, and chayote. Cook these first. When the vegetables are tender, add the broccoli.

Once the soup comes to a rolling boil, add the cabbage and stir well. Season to taste, then turn off the heat and add black pepper. Serve as part of a complete meal with other side dishes.
