Ingredients

1 hour
8-10 servings
  1. 1 loafchallah or egg bread, cut into cubes
  2. 2 cupshalf and half
  3. 4whole eggs
  4. 2/3 cupsugar
  5. 1/3 cupliquid chocolate milk mix, I used Nestle Quik
  6. 1/2 tspsalt
  7. Vanilla
  8. 6 tbspmelted butter
  9. 1/3 cuppacked brown sugar
  10. 1 cupchocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

1 hour
  1. 1

Place cubed bread in a large bowl.

  2. 2

In another bowl, mix well the half and half, eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla, and chocolate milk mix. Mix until the sugar starts dissolving. Pour over bread cubes and toss with a spatula until all the bread is coated well. Allow to sit for a bit and toss it some more. Let it sit.

  3. 3

Add the chocolate chips and toss until distributed evenly. Add the brown sugar to the melted better and toss well.

  4. 4

Preheat oven to 350. Pour mixture into a sprayed, prepared pan, I used a Bundt pan. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temp is 160. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes before flipping out onto a platter. We eat it with whipped topping. I think adding mini marshmallows would be really good too

I'm an army brat with a Cajun mother and an Irish dad. I'm married to the love of my life, David, and we have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. I've been a barber for 40 years. Im an old fashioned, old school cook and my recipes are basic. I change them up all the time.Since finding out I’m diabetic I’ve had to rearrange old habits. Any recipe I have can be made the old fashioned way OR replaced with lower carb options. Just ask and I’ll tell you what has worked for me.I’m the self proclaimed queen of the leftover. I have issues with leftovers looking back at me with the same sappy look they had the day before. Can’t do it. My super power is turning what I find in my fridge into something I want to eat. I work so much better under pressure. I live for shortcuts and not having to run to the grocery every day. Work with what you have. Adapt and overcome. Also, the less dishes, bowls, and pots I hafta use, the better. Hope some of these recipes work out for ya!
