Classic Chinese Pepper Steak

My wife already has an Oriental Pepper Steak recipe on Cookpad which is great, but this is a more traditional recipe made with flank steak. As with most Chinese dishes you can change up the vegetables, just make sure to make it colorful.

My wife already has an Oriental Pepper Steak recipe on Cookpad which is great, but this is a more traditional recipe made with flank steak. As with most Chinese dishes you can change up the vegetables, just make sure to make it colorful.
Steps
- 1
Cut flank steak across the grain in bite size pieces. Place in a bowl and add in the marinade ingredients (soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil). Mix and let sit for 15 minutes.
- 2
Mix all the sauce ingredients (soy sauce, rice vinegar, corn starch, brown sugar, paprika, and black pepper) in a small bowl and set aside.
- 3
Add 1 Tbsp sesame oil and 1 Tbsp olive oil to a large skillet or wok. Heat oils on high. Add in all the vegetables (bell peppers, jalapeños, onion) and cook until soft. Next add in garlic and fresh ginger and stir for 30 seconds. Remove cooked vegetables to a bowl.
- 4
Add marinated steak to the skillet and cook on high heat to a medium rare. (Note: the meat will be medium by the time the dish is done).
- 5
Return vegetables to the skillet and mix in. Add in the sauce and cook for 1 minute to thicken the sauce.
- 6
Pepper steak is ready to serve. Goes great with rice. Garnish with parsley or chopped green onions. Enjoy!
