First, separate the egg whites from the yolks.

Beat the egg whites until they double in volume and form stiff peaks (once you start beating, do not stop until the meringue is ready).

Gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat until fully incorporated.

Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract, and mix well.

Next, gradually add the flour and baking powder, mixing thoroughly.

Add the milk and mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes. (Do not open the oven during the first 25 minutes, as this can cause issues with the cake.)

After 40 minutes, insert a knife into the cake; if it comes out clean, it's done. Let it cool, remove from the pan, and enjoy!

Personally, I like to slice it in half and fill it with dulce de leche, but you can use any filling you like or leave it plain.
