Pearl Barley soak in water for at least 4hrs. Roast moong dal till light brown, then soak in water for at least 1 hour.

Rinse pearl Barley and moong dal thoroughly with water and mix. To it add green peas and carrot cubes.

Add salt, turmeric powder and red chili into it. Pour 11/2 cup water and cook in a pressure cooker till whistle blows 2-3times under medium flame.

For tempering, add 1tbsp ghee in a kadhai and switch on the burner. When the ghee becomes hot, reduce the flame and add cumin seed, crushed cardamom, Clove and black pepper. Then add the boiled pearl Barley.

Cook for 3-5 minutes under low flame with constant stirring till the khichri becomes thick. Serve hot in a serving plate. For garnishing, I have added curd, cucumber, tomato slices.
