The origin of this recipe
I discovered that you can make shumai in a takoyaki maker and added my own twist! You can also add shrimp or change the ingredients for endless variations♪
Steps
- 1
Finely chop the onion and shiitake mushrooms, then mix well with the ground pork and ★ ingredients.
- 2
Without turning on the heat, coat the takoyaki maker with a generous amount of sesame oil, place the shumai wrappers, and fill with the mixture from step 1.
- 3
Top with green peas or other decorations, add water, cover, and steam on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- 4
Insert a skewer; if clear juice comes out, it's done! Remove the lid and let some moisture evaporate to finish☆゛
- 5
[Low-Carb Version]
Thinly slice the leafy vegetables (the photo shows napa cabbage) and boil until wilted (microwaving is also fine). - 6
Instead of wrappers, lay the leafy vegetables, add the filling, and proceed as usual♪ (Since leafy vegetables release moisture, use slightly less water!)
