Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. 1large chicken breast
  2. 1 cupcornstarch (about 120 grams)
  3. 2eggs
  4. Salt, to taste
  5. Black pepper, to taste
  6. 3/4 cupsugar (about 150 grams)
  7. 1/2 cupwhite vinegar (about 120 ml)
  8. 2 tablespoonssoy sauce
  9. 4 tablespoonsketchup

Steps

    Cut the chicken breast into cubes or strips and season with salt and pepper.
    Set up two bowls: one with the cornstarch and another with the beaten eggs (add a little water to the eggs).

    Coat each piece of chicken first in cornstarch, then dip in the beaten eggs.
    Fry in hot oil (make sure the oil is very hot).

    Place the fried chicken in an oven-safe dish.

    For the sauce, use:
    3/4 cup sugar (about 150 grams),
    1/2 cup white vinegar (about 120 ml),
    2 tablespoons soy sauce, and
    4 tablespoons ketchup.

    Mix all the sauce ingredients in a large bowl until the sugar dissolves.
    Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.

    Transfer everything to the oven-safe dish and bake for 15 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
    After the first 10 minutes, remove from the oven and stir the chicken.
    Return to the oven until the sauce thickens.

    Serve with your favorite side.
