Steps
- 1
Peel the Swede, and the potatoes. Dice the Swede first and get it on to boil you want to give it a 15-20 minute headstart. Salt well. Dice the potatoes.
- 2
Slice the cabbage and kale thinly. Melt half the stick of butter. Lightly salt the cabbage and kale. Allow to sauté till tender.
- 3
Boil the Swede and potatoes till fork tender. Drain the water and mash. Leave it rustic with small lumps of the swede and potatoes. Add the rest of the butter and, all the evaporated milk. Preheat oven to 300° Fahrenheit.
- 4
Add the cabbage and kale to the mash mixture. "Grease" the bottom and sides of baking pan. Add the mash mixture with cabbage and kale mixture incorporated in. I used a fork to spread it out level in the pan.
- 5
Cover with the cheese and put into oven for 20-25 minutes. If you want it more brown leave in the oven longer. I just wanted it not to be dried out. Let rest 5 minutes and serve. I hope you enjoy!!!
