Place all the ingredients except the vermicelli noodles in a pot, then add 8 1/2 cups water (2 liters).

Cook over medium heat until the meat and vegetables are tender. Remove the meat, chickpeas, cilantro, and cinnamon stick, then blend the remaining mixture until smooth.

Return the blended soup to the pot and add the vermicelli noodles. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the noodles are cooked. Add the chickpeas and shredded meat back in, and serve with a squeeze of lemon.
