
Scrivener Trifle
An English trifle with the Sherry replaced with syrip.
Steps

Add sugar and water to a small saucepan and bring to the boil making sure sugar is dissolved

Make the jelly and allow to cool but not set

Cut the jam roll into 1 cm slices and place in the trifle bowl
- 4
Pour the syrip over the jam rolls. Skip this step next time and see if the trifle is less wet

Add the blackberries to the jam rolls (which form a kind of bowl for them(

Pour the jelly over the blackberries and jam rolls and refrigerate to set

Make the custard with 8 tbsp of custard powder, 4 tbsp of sugar and 1.5 l of milk. This is 3/4 of the recommended quantity of milk on the packet.

Pour the custard over the set trifle and refrigerate.

Decorate with a layer of whipped cream
