Sri Lankan Cassava Tempered
A simple and tasty Sri Lankan village-style cassava dish. Soft boiled cassava mixed with spicy tempering and fresh coconut. Perfect with rice and curry! #CookpadApron2026
Steps

Peel cassava, cut into small pieces, and wash well.

Boil cassava with a little salt for 10–15 minutes until soft. Drain water.

Heat coconut oil in a pan.

Add mustard seeds and let them pop.

Add onion, garlic, green chilies, dry chili and curry leaves. Fry until soft.

Add turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add boiled cassava and gently mix.

Add grater coconut and mix lightly.

Cook for 2–3 minutes and turn off heat.
Tips
Don’t overcook cassava
Use fresh coconut for best taste
Serve hot with rice and curry
