Ingredients

2-serving
  • 3/4 cupChickpeas - (soaked overnight and cooked )
  • 1Onion large - chopped finely
  • 1 tspnGinger paste / crushed -
  • 1 tspnGarlic paste / crushed -
  • 1Green chilli large -
  • 2Tomato big -
  • 1/2 tspnTurmeric powder -
  • 1 1/2 tspnsRed chilli powder -
  • 1 tspnGaram Masala -
  • 1/2 tspnAmchur mango powder / dry - ( or use lemon juice as a substitute)
  • 1/4 tspnCumin seeds -
  • Coriander leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pan.Add the sliced green chilli.Fry them lightly.Transfer to a bowl.

  2. 2

    Now add cumin seeds and let it splutter.Add the chopped onion and saute till it turns light brown.

  3. 3

    Add ginger-garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.Add tomatoes and saute till it becomes soft and mushy.(need not saute continuously)

    Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder and garam masala powder.Saute till oil starts to appear on sides.

  5. 5

    Now add in the cooked chickpeas(along with the water used for cooking).Sprinkle enough salt.

  6. 6

    Mix well and cover and cook for 7-10 mints or till the gravy becomes thick.When the gravy is thick enough add amchur powder and chopped coriander leaves.Mix well and remove from fire.

  7. 7

    The curry goes well especially with roti/poori/bature.
