Basic Chocolate cake in a cooker
This is the basic cake recipe that you could use if you are stuck without an oven but do have a pressure cooker at home
Steps
- 1
Prepare a cake pan by greasing, lining and dusting and set ready (I use a 7 inch diameter one for the round pans)
- 2
Separate the egg yolks and whites
- 3
Beat the white till it stands in stiff peaks and set aside
- 4
Cream the yolks, vanilla essence and sugar together till the quantity is doubled and the mixture is fluffy
- 5
Add the butter and milk to this and beat to incorporate.
- 6
Add the baking powder and maida and combine
- 7
Fold in the egg whites till fully combined
- 8
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Set this into a dry pressure cooker on top of a small stand so that the base of the pan is not in contact with the base of the pressure cooker. Close without the whistle
- 9
Bake on high flame for first 2 min, medium for next 5 min and on low for around 25-30 min. Cake is done When a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean
