Minty buttermilk scones with cheese & bell pepper

The origin of Scones is Scotland. It’s a single serving cake.  They are often lightly sweetened or savory. Here I have tried the savory one using Butter milk and cheese. Believe me it came out really wonderful, it looks great in photo but was equally delicious too.  It goes well as a tea time snack with hot sip of tea…..

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven at 425 degrees F

  2. 2

    Grease the baking sheet.

  3. 3

Sift the flour, baking powder, soda and salt twice.

  4. 4

In a bowl, cut the cold butter in pieces, rub the flour and the butter together till it resembles coarse crumbs.  Mix all the ingredients in it.

  5. 5

Transfer it on floured surface. Gently knead to bring them together to form a ball. Do not work too much on the dough using your palms.

  6. 6

Make a rectangle out of the ball by patting your fingers on it.  Fold it 2 times to form 3 layers.

  7. 7

Pat it very gently on floured surface to form a 7”x 7” square shape with a thickness of about ½ inch.

  8. 8

With a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the dough into small pieces (preferably triangle).

  9. 9

Place the triangles on a baking sheet and refrigerate it for 10-15mins.

  10. 10

Bake it for 12-15mins or till they turn golden brown.
