My family loves this. I serve it over rice and bring leftovers to work for lunch. I've received a lot of compliments on this from people that have tried it.

Ingredients

  1. Chili
  2. 1 can15 oz black beans
  3. 1 can15 oz Bush's original baked beans
  4. 2/3 cupwater
  5. 1 tbspdark brown sugar
  6. 1 tspcanola oil
  7. 1 lbground turkey
  8. 1 cupsweet onion
  9. 1red bell pepper
  10. 1green bell pepper
  11. 5 slicehickory-smoked bacon
  12. 1 1/2 tbspchili powder
  13. 1 tbspcumin
  14. 1 tspdried oregano
  15. 1/4 tspcrushed red pepper
  16. 1 jarof store-bought salsa
  17. 1 can14 oz less-sodium beef broth
  18. 6 ozcan of tomato paste
  19. Topping
  20. 1/2 cupreduced-fat sour cream
  21. 1/4 cupfresh cilantro
  22. 1 tsplime juice

Cooking Instructions

    Combine black beans, water, and sugar in a food processor; process until smooth.

    Combine bean puree and remaining beans in a bowl.

    Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat; coat pan with oil.

    Add turkey to large saucepan; cook 3 minutes or until browned, stirring to crumble.

    Remove turkey from the pan and set aside.

    Add chopped onion, bell peppers, and bacon to the pan; cook 5 minutes or until bacon and onion are lightly browned.

    Return turkey to the pan.

    Combine chili powder, cumin, oregano, and crushed red pepper and mix in a small bowl.

    Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, and crushed red pepper to pan; stir well to coat.

    Stir in bean mixture, salsa, tomato paste, and broth; bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure chili doesn't stick to the bottom.

    Combine sour cream, cilantro, and lime juice in a small bowl.

    Serve chili with sour cream mixture.
